THE FOLLOWING IS A GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION FOR THIS POSITION IN THE PROPERTY MANAGMENT INDUSTRY. RESPONSIBILITIES MAY VARY BY EMPLOYER. REGULAR POSITIONS WITH APARTMENT COMMUNITIES MAY DIFFER FROM DUTIES FOR CAREER STRATEGIES TEMPORARY POSITIONS THUS TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT DUTIES ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY CAREER STRATEGIES' ASSOCIATE.

A porter/groundskeeper acts as an internal ambassador between the residents of the apartment community and management while providing basic light maintenance functions for the property.  The porter/groundskeeper is charged with providing exceptional service for all residents, future residents and internal team members while maintaining the grounds and property with high curb appeal as the end result.

Basic responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Greeting all residents, future residents and internal team members in a professional manner
  2. Keeping a high level of service in mind with every task
  3. Assessing and troubleshooting problems
  4. Painting/Cleaning
  5. Performing light home maintenance tasks
  6. Cleaning pool and/or hot tub
  7. Performing pressure washing
  8. Performing basic janitorial tasks
  9. Performing basic landscaping tasks
  10. Respecting the boundaries of confidentiality, fair housing laws and safety
  11. Recording accurate data on work orders
Completing work in a timely, cost effective, accurate manner

Ideal candidates will have:

  1. Strong customer service background and skills
  2. Prior work experience in a customer service or facilities field
  3. Projection of a professional image by following dress code and appearance standards as set forth by the community
  4. Reliable transportation
  5. Basic mechanical aptitude
  6. A willingness to be trained
  7. A positive, upbeat attitude
  8. A work record of good attendance and punctuality
