Leasing Consultant

THE FOLLOWING IS A GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION FOR THIS POSITION IN THE PROPERTY MANAGMENT INDUSTRY. RESPONSIBILITIES MAY VARY BY EMPLOYER. REGULAR POSITIONS WITH APARTMENT COMMUNITIES MAY DIFFER FROM DUTIES FOR CAREER STRATEGIES TEMPORARY POSITIONS THUS TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT DUTIES ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY CAREER STRATEGIES' ASSOCIATE.

A leasing consultant acts as an initial ambassador between the public, the residents of the apartment community and the community management team.  This individual is responsible for providing exceptional service to community residents, future residents and internal team members.  They must provide the community with value and quality by assessing the needs of client they are assisting and providing a solution that not only coincides with the goals of the community but is beneficial for all concerned parties.

Basic responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Greeting all residents, future residents and internal team members in a professional and consistent positive manner
  2. Keeping a high level of service in mind with every task while resolving conflict to benefit all concerned parties
  3. Touring apartment homes and community grounds including models, amenities, and vacant apartments
  4. Preparing lease documents and related paperwork for management
  5. Facilitating the move in /move out process
  6. Basic bookkeeping and clerical work
  7. Promoting positive resident relations
  8. Respecting the boundaries of confidentiality, fair housing laws and safety
  9. Executing on site marketing and advertising directives

 

Basic duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Following standard office procedures
  2. Opening models and inspecting the tour path
  3. Orienting himself or herself with the property and surroundings
  4. Preparing coffee and refreshments as requested
  5. Accepting maintenance requests and capably handling resident calls
  6. Assisting residents with rental, move-in, and renewal paperwork
  7. Assisting with any other office function that may be delegated by the community manager or other staff members
  8. Answering telephones and providing exceptional service
  9. Creating a sense of urgency when making appointments for future residents to visit the community
  10. Completing telephone and on site guest cards/traffic reports
  11. Asking for the deposit and closing the lease*
  12. Completing follow-up

Ideal candidates will have:

  1. Strong customer service background and skills
  2. Basic typing and clerical skills
  3. Ability to multi-task
  4. Projection of a professional image by following dress code and appearance standards as set forth by the community
  5. Reliable transportation
  6. Excellent telephone skills
  7. A positive, upbeat attitude
  8. Sales skills
  9. Clean criminal background
  10. No prior apartment evictions
Successful completion of Career Strategies Leasing Certification Workshop or equivalent prior property management experience.
